Workshop Overview
Building Community focuses on promoting a climate in which youth can feel part of a group. Community building can take place in both structured and unstructured ways.
Participants will: learn methods for building supportive, youth-centered relationship; be prepared to ask effective questions, listen actively to youth, and encourage young people by tapping their intrinsic motivation; leave this session with practical skills that can be implemented immediately.

Attendance & Participation
This workshop will start promptly at 10am. Participants should plan to arrive by 9:45am. Participants are expected to attend the entirety of the workshop to receive a certificate of completion, which will be delivered via email post event.

Registration is open for this event until it fills up or until 2 days before the workshop. After completing the form you'll receive a confirmation email along with reminder emails as the event gets closer.
This workshop is limited to 20 participants. If this event reaches capacity, there will be a waiting list that we'll use to both fill spots that may open up and also help plan our future workshop topic schedule.

This workshop will take place at the University of Pittsburgh's Community Engagement Center - Homewood (622 N. Homewood Ave. 15208).
Entering the CEC: The main entrance is an accessible entrance facing N. Homewood Ave. You'll need to sign in at the front desk when you enter the building. Click here to learn more about the Homewood CEC.
Parking & Transportation
Parking options at Homewood CEC: There is free on-street parking around he Homewood Community Engagement Center. There is also a metered parking lot at the corner of N. Homewood Ave and Kelly St (across from CCAC).
Public Transit/Bikes: Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) bus 74 stops directly in front of the CEC (N. Homewood Ave at Kelly St). PRT bus 71D stops at Hamilton Ave and N. Homewood Ave.
